Systematic reviews of health economic evaluations consider health economic evaluations, which compare the effects of different healthcare interventions on economic outcomes (e.g. incremental cost-effectiveness ratios, incremental benefits, etc). However, these reviews, albeit common, have varied quality standards of reporting.
A group based in the University of Oxford, with PRISMA representatives, is leading this project of developing a reporting guideline for systematic reviews of health economic evaluations. A working group is being formed, and the leaders plan to perform a scoping review of the methodological literature, a Delphi survey, a consensus meeting, and piloting before launching. The project has funding from NIHR, and the group plans to publish the reporting guideline in 2026, as an open-access document.
