PRISMA-RR: an extension to PRISMA for rapid reviews

Literature reviews

This reporting guideline will address reporting for rapid reviews. Rapid reviews can be described as systematic reviews where methods modifications are made to expedite the review completion time.

June 2024 update - following delays the guideline development has restarted and is currently at the protocol development stage. The development group plan to firstly conduct a scoping review to identify a list of items that could be included in the PRISMA-RR extension. This will be followed by a multi-round electronic Delphi survey with relevant knowledge users to solicit feedback on potential guideline items to create a preliminary list of items for the PRISMA-RR extension. A virtual consensus meeting will then be held with the steering committee and key experts in the field to refine the list of reporting items. A pilot-test will finalise the list of items to be included in the PRISMA-RR extension.
