An executive group of researchers in Switzerland is developing a reporting guideline for studies involving the extraction of information from clinical reports texts, with a focus on the use of natural language processing (or artificial intelligence) techniques. The lack of consistency in reporting can make it difficult to compare and replicate studies.
The group has already conducted a scoping review on the subject which identified the lack of a reporting guideline to support authors on what information to report. They have designed a checklist draft to undergo a Delphi survey with experts, and a consensus meeting. They aim to publish the reporting guideline as an open-access document in 2025.
