The literature shows a wide variety and heterogeneity of evaluation and incorporation practices, as and under-reporting of both participatory approaches and evaluation of digital health interventions (DHIs). Several existing guidelines cover different aspects of health research, but a guideline for the reporting of the participatory development and participatory evaluation of DHIs is lacking. Therefore, a new reporting guideline is needed to facilitate the systematic development and evaluation of DHIs and to promote best practices in participatory research.
