STAR-MBMA - Standards for Transparent and Accurate Reporting of Model-Based Meta-Analyses - General Guideline

Literature reviews

Model-based meta-analysis (MBMA) is a novel quantitative method of meta-analysis that primarily relies on pharmacological knowledge, including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, to quantify the dose-response and time-course relationships. However, there is still a lack of standardisation in describing the systematic process of collecting the data and the core process of MBMA modeling.

The group developing this reporting guideline started with a systematic review evaluating the reporting quality of MBMA, and will conduct a Delphi survey to reach consensus on the preliminary list created. A consensus meeting will follow, and then the checklist will be piloted before publication. The group plans to publish in 2026, open access.

The leading group received funding for this project from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Key Projects of Scientific Act for Drug Regulation of China.
